Established as a joint venture between Alps Electric and Motorola of the United States. The motivation for establishing the joint venture was the development of automobile stereos together with Motorola's automotive division, and the expansion of business.
Alpine becomes the OEM Audio Supplier for Lamborghini.

The Electro Gyro-Cator was the world's first automated commercially available automotive navigation system. It was co-developed by Honda & Alpine.

World's First In Car Computerised Graphic Equaliser
Alpine develops & releases the world's first computerised graphic equaliser - a significant precursor of what has become the modern standard we know & love today. of course, today we have digital equalisers - but the principle of fine tuning your audio remains the same.

Lamborghini Meets Alpine
Spanning 2 decades (from the early 1980s until the end of the 1990s) Alpine supplied car audio to Lamborghini - famously the Alpine CM-630 was equipped as the OEM radio for the legendary Lamborghini Countach. Alpine used their top-of-the-range sports model (Countach, later superseded by Diablo) as a mascot car which featured in every product brochure.
