Established as a joint venture between Alps Electric and Motorola of the United States. The motivation for establishing the joint venture was the development of automobile stereos together with Motorola's automotive division, and the expansion of business.

Lamborghini Meets Alpine
Spanning 2 decades (from the early 1980s until the end of the 1990s) Alpine supplied car audio to Lamborghini - famously the Alpine CM-630 was equipped as the OEM radio for the legendary Lamborghini Countach. Alpine used their top-of-the-range sports model (Countach, later superseded by Diablo) as a mascot car which featured in every product brochure.
